At UKUKU Export, we take pride in supporting initiatives that highlight the exceptional products of Latin America. This year, we had the incredible opportunity to attend Expocafé Perú, one of the most important coffee fairs in the region, held in Lima. This event allowed us to dive into the world of Peruvian coffee, meet passionate producers, and taste coffees of exceptional quality.
Here, we share our experience and why we believe Peruvian coffee has the potential to conquer international markets.

Connecting with Local Producers
At Expocafé Perú, we had the privilege of meeting producers who not only grow coffee but also cultivate dreams and opportunities for their communities. From traditional varieties like Typica and Caturra to exotic gems like Geisha, the event showcased the richness and diversity of Peruvian coffee.
We spoke with families who have dedicated generations to coffee cultivation. Their stories were inspiring: from small farmers working together to improve their livelihoods to entrepreneurs seeking to position their brands in the international market.
One of the most valuable aspects of this experience was discovering how Peruvian producers are adopting sustainable practices and innovative methods to enhance the quality of their beans.

High-Quality Coffee: Beyond the Bean
We were fortunate to taste coffees with scores exceeding 86 points on the PCA scale (Advanced Cupping Protocol). This means these beans meet strict quality standards, excelling in flavor, aroma, acidity, and body.
Among the coffees we sampled, some were characterized by fruity notes, others by floral or chocolaty nuances, showcasing the versatility and complexity of Peruvian coffee.
At UKUKU Export, we are partnering with several of these producers to bring both green coffee and roasted coffee from Peru to the world. Our mission is to ensure that this exceptional quality is recognized and valued in international markets.

Peruvian Coffee: A Sleeping Giant
Although less known than coffee from Colombia or Brazil, Peruvian coffee has incredible potential. Peru boasts ideal conditions for cultivating specialty coffee:
- High altitudes that foster complex bean development.
- Diverse climates that allow for a wide range of flavor profiles.
- Commitment to sustainability and certifications like Fair Trade and Organic.
In recent years, Peru’s coffee industry has grown significantly. However, there is still work to be done to position this product in the world’s leading markets. At UKUKU Export, we are committed to collaborating with Peruvian producers to ensure their coffee achieves the global recognition it deserves.

The Human Side of Coffee
Coffee is not just a product; it represents stories, dreams, and hard work. Every bean tells the story of people who work tirelessly to transform their lives and their communities.
At Expocafé, we heard moving accounts of producers overcoming economic, climatic, and social challenges to deliver high-quality coffee. Witnessing their dedication motivates us to redouble our efforts to support them.

The Art of Barista Craft in Peru
The fair also featured an exciting barista competition, showcasing the talent of the country’s top coffee artisans. It was fascinating to see how these professionals turn coffee into art, further elevating the value of Peruvian beans.
Our Mission at UKUKU Export
At UKUKU Export, we firmly believe that Peruvian coffee is on the brink of global recognition. Through our platform, we aim to connect small producers with international clients, ensuring their work receives the reach and appreciation it deserves.
We have already started collaborating with some of the producers we met at Expocafé Perú, and we have no doubt that together we will achieve great things.

A Vision for Peruvian Coffee
Expocafé Perú is not just a fair; it is a gathering point for cultures, traditions, and innovation. Peruvian coffee has all the elements to become a world-renowned product, and at UKUKU Export, we feel privileged to be part of this journey.
Because coffee is much more than a drink; it is the essence of the people who make it possible.
